Everyday school life in Canada
You can spend your student exchange at semester schools (four subjects taught daily for one semester) or linear schools (eight subjects taught throughout the school year). The timetables are individually tailored to each student, so there is no fixed class structure. In addition to academic subjects like math, history, or English, there are many other interesting subjects that are rare in Germany that you can discover during your student exchange. In addition to the regular school subjects, there are numerous clubs such as photography, computer science, theater, and numerous sports activities. Many schools offer so-called academies. Here, individual subjects or sports are specifically promoted and taught intensively, usually for an additional fee. For example, there are ice hockey academies, soccer academies, skiing/snowboarding academies, dance academies, theater academies, or film academies.
